F-I-N-A-L-L-Y!!!

Over a year after it was originally filmed, Michael's episode of Hannah Montana, "Test of My Love," is finally going to be released in the U.S. on Disney this upcoming weekend, Sunday, August 31.

We certainly hope you enjoy it! As of this moment in time, we are not sure if Michael will be appearing in a follow-up episode or not. Disney is just now beginning to film Season 3 of Hannah Montana so we may not find out for awhile yet. In the meantime, if you enjoy Michael's performance and would like to see him return, feel free to drop an email to Disney and let them know about it. You'll be surprised how much they really do listen to their fans!

Sorry for the delay!!!

After Mike and his parents vacationed in Cape May, NJ during our annual family escape from LA, Mike and his mother returned to LA while his dad stayed in Delaware to finish closing out his late parents' estate. Considering that Mike's union (SAG) is still in negotiations with the AMPTP (the studios), activity in Hollywood has slowed to a crawl until the new contract is settled. Besides Mike being on hold for a short film, there is little news to report.

In the meantime, Mike is getting ready to have new headshots made while we prepare for a complete redesign of his website. As a result, updates may be a little less frequent during this time so please be patient! We will continue to post significant news as we get it. In addition, with all the fan questions that have come in, Michael has been swamped with trying to answer all his fan mail. While Michael has tried in the past to answer all his mail, that is quickly becoming next to impossible. However, I can assure you he does read every email and question you send in. As he gets time, he will continue to answer selected questions (at least those that are not redundant.) But please be patient as it may take a few weeks before you see a response to a question you send in. Mike continues to appreciate his fans and is grateful for all of your continued support. Hopefully, his new website will be released sometime this fall. So stay tuned!

P.S. - We are also looking for a dedicated fan who might be interested in becoming the administrator for Michael's future fan message board (once we get it up and running.) If you are interested, please send us some information about yourself and your qualifications to: michael@michaelmcshae.com. Thanks!

Congratulations, Mike!

Just a quick note to tell you Mike has landed another role in an upcoming episode of HBO's television series, "Big Love"! There is not much information about it so far other than it appears to be a minor role. We are not yet sure if it could be recurring or not. Anyway, he starts shooting this upcoming Friday.

We are also waiting to hear about a Disney Radio production for which Mike has tentatively booked a voice-over role. The production has been put on hold for now so we don't know if Mike will still be recording it or not. We will have to let you know as we find out.

Finally, with the record-breaking number of views of the YouTube.com videos of Mike's episode of Hannah Montana, Disney has had several of the videos removed until such time the episode has been aired in the U.S. I'm guessing that no one over at Disney realized just how popular this episode was going to become. And honestly, neither did we! Anyway, thanks to all of you fans who have taken the time to say something nice on Mike's behalf in the comments of those videos. I know Mike and the rest of us have scanned a number of the comments and greatly appreciate the kind support you all have provided. He knows how fortunate he is to have such generous fans!

Cape May, here we come!!!

Finally! After challenges at every turn, our annual family vacation to Cape May, NJ is set! This year we will finally have the opportunity to stay at a beautiful old Victorian beach front condo - The Morning Star (see image below.) We have managed to book Mike out during the week of July 12-19 so we can all get a little well-deserved R&R away from the madness that is Hollywood & LA.

Mike is gearing up for evening cruises along the boardwalk in his quest for the elusive summer love while my wife and I plan on getting romantically reacquainted with one another (!!!) while sitting on our porch overlooking the ocean. Of course, our oldest son, A.J. has not yet decided whether to join us or not - most likely because he knows this is also when we have the annual family Putt-Putt championship. And he knows he can't keep withdrawing because of "unspecified injuries" (like his dad does from time to time!)

Still the call of bodysurfing and bagging the rays during the day and evenings at Carney's and the Mall beckons all of us, so we don't know if he will be able to handle staying away! In any case, we hope all of you have a wonderful summer lined up for yourselves as well. Just remember to play hard but stay safe! And let's all have a great time this summer!

Even More Hannah Montana News...

Well, it was bound to happen! After airing in the UK on Friday night, several enterprising young filmmakers-to-be finally managed to upload English versions of Mike's episode of Hannah Montana, "Test of My Love."

While we still do not have an air date for when it will premier on the Disney Channel in the U.S., rabid fans can take heart and watch the entire episode on YouTube - that is, if you do not mind watching it in multiple pieces. Still, the quality of the videos are quite good (including this one courtesy of rawanselkhi12. See YouTube.com for the rest.) And if you are weak of heart you might want to ignore all the negative comments by the nattering nabobs of negativity who like to crash any good party! No one is claiming Mike or Miley are the hottest kids on the planet nor are they in line for Emmys on a show where the acting is intentionally over the top to appeal to the widest possible audience. Still, Miley is a very sweet, genuine, and professional young lady - despite the claims of her countless critics - and Mike is a lot more complex and edgy in real life than you would ever guess from watching him in this episode. But then, that's why its called 'acting'! vbg

Anyway, Mike and all of us in his family want to personally thank all of you who have stood up and said something positive about him, Miley, the rest of the cast, or this episode! There are a lot of people who worked themselves to the bone behind the scenes to bring each of these shows to you for your entertainment! And Mike, for one, knows how fortunate he is to have such wonderful fans supporting him. And though he may be an actor, he is still just a regular teenage kid like many of you.

Thanks, again, for your support and we hope you enjoy the episode! And if you have submitted a question for Mike on his AskMike! page, please be patient as he will get to them as soon as he can. Anyway, stay tuned as we will let you know the U.S. release date as soon as we are able to get it confirmed!

More Hannah Montana News...

We just found out Mike's episode of Hannah Montana ("Test of My Love") has aired in Brazil (and other Latin American countries), Kazakhstan (and other Eastern European countries), and India. In fact, one fan of the show in Latin America recorded the episode on her cell phone and uploaded it to YouTube (see link below for Part 1 of 3. Visit YouTube.com for the other parts.) I didn't realize Mike could speak Spanish so well - not to mention change his voice! lol

Anyway, take heart... the episode appears to be taking the scenic route on its way to release in the U.S. So please be patient and keep checking back!

Hannah Montana News...

We just found out that Mike's episode of Hannah Montana ("Test of My Love") will be aired in the United Kingdom in May as part of a Disney promotional special called, "Montana May." Hopefully, that will be followed up by the U.S. premiere not long after. Let's keep our fingers crossed! That, and keep checking back!

LOTS OF NEWS since the last website update! Take a few moments to read through everything (in gold) below...

First, CONGRATULATIONS MIKE!!!

Without even going to an audition, the Tonight Show with Jay Leno called and requested Mike to be on the show tonight! Of course, we would love for it to be as a featured guest but tonight, Mike is doing a brief bit as part of Jay's routine (presumably at the beginning of the show.) If you get a chance, check it out! Great job, Mike!

A couple of notes...

First, for anyone who might have wondered, Mike was unable to attend the Orange County ProScout regional event. However, he was able to film a promotional video for ProScout the day before. I am not sure when or where it will be aired but my guess is that it will likely appear on their website (see link) in the near future.

Finally, it appears Mike's episode of Hannah Montana, "Test of My Love," is evidently not going to air today. Ever since the writer's strike, the show's season 2 schedule has been completely disrupted. The last we heard was that the episode may be aired as part of season 3. There is nothing definite at this point so keep checking back...

CONGRATULATIONS MIKE!!!

Out of the blue, Mike strikes again! This time, Mike has landed a guest-starring role on the May 5th episode of NBC's hit television series, "Medium," entitled, "Being Jimmy Carmichael."

However, if you want to see Mike, be sure to tune in at the very beginning of the show. Mike's character is part of the setup for the episode (so if you miss the beginning, you may miss seeing Mike! vbg) We hope you get a chance to watch!

Finally!

We have all been waiting for quite awhile for Mike's feature film debut in the movie, "Towelhead," (aka "Nothing is Private.") It has already proven to be a very controversial film at both the Toronto Film Festival (last fall) and at the Sundance Film Festival (this past winter.) After plenty of post production, they have finally announced the USA release date (to theaters) to be August 8, 2008 - nearly two years after filming!

They have also released the promotional poster (below) for the upcoming release. We hope everyone enjoys the film...

Some interesting news...

Perhaps following in his dad's footsteps (or just to show me up!!! vbg), Mike has turned into quite a promising writer! In fact, Mike has recently drawn considerable interest in all of his new screenplays he has been writing for short films.

In Mike's own words...

"Right now we (DC and I) are in talks with a producer to put one of my screenplays into production. We have yet to choose the particular screenplay, but right now it's between one that is already finished and two others which are currently in development.

"The completed one is called, "Memoirs of The Mad", which is a film about the origin of the popular comic book villain, The Joker.

"One of the other two in development is called, "Patient 223", which is another product of my fascination with the Joker. It's about a young man, Edward Hopkins, who suffers from both Dissociative Identity Disorder and Psychopathic Personality Disorder, who believes he is the Joker at one moment and normal the next. As his mental illness grows worse, Edward must battle for control of his own mind before his alter ego commits the ultimate fatal joke.

"The other screenplay is called, 'Loser', which follows another young man's downward spiral into severe depression and his fight for acceptance as well as social equality. Right now, it appears "Patient 223" is the most likely to be put into production."

Way to go, Mike! Not only is he a talented actor, but he is rapidly becoming a skilled writer, as well. We will let you know more as the project moves forward..."

Bad news...

It was recently announced that Mike's new television series, "12 Miles of Bad Road," has been canceled by HBO before any of the six episodes already filmed have had a chance to be aired. (Out of those, Mike appeared in five of them.)

Apparently the creators of the show, Harry Thomason and Linda Bloodworth Thomason, are trying to shop the series around to other networks. So far, negotiations have been taking place with at least one potential home for the show. Part of the issue is that HBO owns the rights to the series and is very concerned they might look bad if the show is a hit for another network. Sony Pictures Television has indicated an interest to provide production if the series is allowed to be picked up by another network.

In the meantime, the Thomasons have sent out DVD's of the show's first six episodes to critics around the country hoping that the show will get good enough reviews to encourage either HBO to rethink the cancellation or allow the show to be picked up by another network. The first reviews seem to suggest that the show has promise and the acting is outstanding.

Of course, when it comes to Mike, we agree wholeheartedly! Stay tuned...

Another quick update...

Mike has been invited by the president of ProScout, Brian Marcus, to appear at the upcoming ProScout regional invitational in Orange County, CA. As always, Mike is grateful for all ProScout has done to help his career!

Stay tuned for more information as we get it...

Just another quick update...

It appears the earlier rumor we heard about Mike's episode of Hannah Montana ("The Test of My Love") airing on March 7 did not materialize. Reliable information is difficult to obtain - even Mike's agent doesn't seem to know when it will air.

But take heart! We have seen several other rumors claiming it will be shown on or around April 20. In addition, we have also heard that Mike's episode will also be released on a new Hannah Montana DVD sometime in April.

Again, nothing official has been released that we are aware of so take these rumors with a grain of salt! And keep checking back for more updates as we find them!

Just a quick update...

Now that the writer's strike is finally over and everyone can get back to work, Mike should begin filming more episodes of his new television show, "12 Miles of Bad Road" as they need him. Production on that show has slipped quite a bit (as it has with every other production in Hollywood.) We will let you know when the series premieres as soon as we find out.

As for the long-awaited Hannah Montana episode, "Test of My Love"... word on the street is that it may air on Friday, March 7. Disney has been in the process of evaluating its schedule for the remaining season 2 episodes in order to allow for the production delays regarding Miley's upcoming movie (to be shot in May, the last I heard.) Of course, Disney needs to distribute the remaining season 2 episodes such that they can film the new Hannah Montana movie as well as get a few season 3 episodes into production.

The March 7 date may not happen as it is only a rumor at this point so keep checking back. We will let you know ASAP!

Thanks for your patience!!!

It's late and Michael has requested me to offer his condolences to the family and friends of Heath Ledger, who tragically passed away yesterday at the all-too-young age of 28. Heath was one of Mike's favorite actors and has been a significant influence in Mike's career. We would all wish everyone to hold Heath and his loved ones in our prayers.
